Konami Group Corp reported that its gaming and systems division returned to profit in the first quarter of its financial year. The turnaround came alongside record group-wide results for the quarter.
The gaming and systems division covers casino slot machines and casino floor management systems. It operates outside Japan through Konami Australia and Konami Gaming in the United States.
For the quarter ended June 30, the division’s revenue was nearly JPY12.39 billion. That figure equals roughly $75.8 million.
This represents growth of 64.9% compared with JPY7.51 billion in the same quarter of the prior year.
The division posted a business profit of JPY827 million for the quarter. That is a reversal from a loss of JPY166 million recorded in the same period last year.
Market Conditions And Product Performance
Konami said new casino openings and replacement demand at existing venues have created placement opportunities for its machines. The company noted that competitors are also releasing new products during this period.
Konami highlighted its Solstice 49C slot cabinet, part of the Solstice series, saying the product received strong feedback from the market.
The company also pointed to its Bomberman game content. Konami said this series,
