A group of leading online gambling companies has launched a new industry association in Chile. The group is called the Responsible iGaming Association, or AGR.
Its main goal is to help build a clear regulatory framework for online gambling in the country. Chile does not yet have a specific legal structure for this industry.
Lawmakers are currently reviewing bills that would create a licensing process. Part of that effort is aimed at stopping unlicensed operators from working in the country.
AGR Seeks Collaboration With Authorities
AGR says it wants to work closely with government officials and other industry groups. The goal is to help shape rules for an activity that has existed in Chile for years without formal oversight.
Online betting is already regulated in several other Latin American countries. AGR argues Chile should follow a similar path.
