Fortuna Entertainment Group has confirmed it has finished buying TOPsport, the top betting company in Lithuania. The company announced the closing on Monday through its LinkedIn page.
Fortuna called the move the start of a new chapter for the business. It said the deal will strengthen its position in the Baltic region.
The purchase was first announced in March. At that time, Fortuna said it would buy a 70% stake in TOPsport. Penta Investments, which owns Fortuna, backed the deal financially.
That earlier announcement was described as one of the biggest foreign investments in Lithuania in recent years. It was also said to be a record spending amount for Penta.
What Fortuna’s Leadership Said
Fortuna Chief Executive Officer Dieter John spoke about the deal back in March. He said the acquisition supports the company’s commitment to responsible gaming.
John also said the deal helps the group keep high standards across its operations. He said he was proud of the work done by both teams to make the deal happen.
The timing of the deal lines up with fresh data on Lithuania’s gambling market. The Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority released new figures just days before Fortuna’s announcement.
