Brazil’s gambling regulator has ramped up its fight against illegal betting operators over the past year and a half. The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, known as the SPA, released new numbers showing the scale of its enforcement work.
Between January 15, 2025, and September 2, 2026, the agency blocked 66,482 betting domains. The data came from a public records request filed under Brazil’s Access to Information Law.
The SPA also worked to remove unauthorized betting profiles from the internet. In total, 1,511 profiles were deleted during the period covered by the report.
In 2025 alone, regulators took down 565 profiles. That marked a step up in activity compared to prior enforcement efforts.
Sanctions and Legal Proceedings Move Forward
The SPA also tracks administrative sanctioning proceedings, called PAS. Since January 2025, the agency has processed or closed 103 of these cases.
Of those, 68 have been fully resolved. That includes 56 resolved at the administrative level and 12 still pending appeal.
Another 31 proceedings are still being judged. Two cases have moved to court, and two more are in talks over possible settlements.
The SPA explained that sanctioning proceedings do not go straight to judgment once they begin. Each case must first go through notification, a request for supporting documents, and a preliminary defense from the accused party before a decision can be made.
