South Africa’s online betting industry recorded 380 million visits during the first quarter of 2026. The data, sourced from Similarweb traffic figures cited by Tribuna, highlights how fast the digital gambling market is growing in the country.

The first three months of the year averaged roughly 126 million visits per month. Mobile users were responsible for most of the traffic.

Three Operators Control Half the Market

Nearly half of all visits were concentrated among just three betting platforms. Betway, YesPlay, and Hollywoodbets together accounted for about 50% of total online betting activity.

Betway led the pack with 94 million visits during the quarter. That figure represents close to one-quarter of all betting traffic in South Africa.

YesPlay came in second with 53 million visits. Hollywoodbets followed with 46 million visits over the same period.

The concentration of traffic among these three operators shows how dominant they have become in the South African market. Smaller platforms are competing for the remaining half of visits.

Separate data from analytics firm Blask paints a picture of how this dominance built up over time. Betway’s monthly traffic more than doubled between January 2024 and December 2025.

In January 2024, Betway was drawing 21.9 million visits per month. By December 2025, that number had climbed to 46
