The Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation, known as FERJ, announced the suspension of the Campeonato Carioca Série C after reports from Sportradar and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) revealed unusual betting activity during the tournament’s sixth round.
Three Matches Flagged
The three matches under investigation are Ceres FC vs Tigres do Brasil, CAAC Brasil vs Itaboraí Profut, and Barra Mansa FC vs Mageense FC.
All three games were played in the same round of the 2026 championship. FERJ said the fact that three separate reports pointed to the same round was enough reason to suspend play immediately.
The suspension took effect from the seventh round onward. No further matches will be played until the investigation concludes or sports judicial authorities issue a ruling.
How the Alerts Were Triggered
Sportradar and IBIA are integrity monitoring companies contracted to watch over betting data and match activity in Brazilian football.
Their systems track large volumes of betting transactions in real time. When unusual patterns appear, they flag the relevant matches and alert the governing body.
