Online casinos have become the largest part of Denmark’s gambling market for the first time. This is according to a new report from the Danish Gambling Authority, known as Spillemyndigheden.
The report was published on Monday. It covers gambling activity across Denmark during 2025.
Online casinos made up 38% of the total market last year. This pushed lotteries into second place after more than a decade at the top.
Denmark partly opened up its gambling market in 2012. This is the first time online casinos have topped lotteries since then.
Revenue Breakdown by Segment
Total gambling revenue in Denmark reached DKK11.5 billion in 2025. That equals about $1.75 billion.
This was a 1% drop compared to 2024. When adjusted for inflation, the total sat just under 2012 levels.
Online casino revenue grew 12.1% from the year before. It reached DKK4.31 billion, more than double what it was in 2012.
Lotteries brought in DKK3.49 billion, making up 30% of the market. This was down 6.2% from 2024.
Sports betting fell 11.5% to DKK2.13 billion. Slot machines dropped 6.8% to DKK1.18 billion.
Land-based casinos saw revenue fall 5.6%. A newly allowed category, land-based bingo, brought in a small DKK30 million.
