Right now, Chile does not have a specific law for online gambling. Bills to set up a licensing system are moving through the Senate. These bills also aim to stop unlicensed operators from working in the country.
Working With Regulators
AGR says its main goal is to work closely with government officials and other industry groups. The association wants to help shape rules for an activity that has existed in Chile for years without formal oversight.
The founding members of AGR are Betano, Juegalo, Novibet, Betsala and Estelarbet. These companies will work together under the new group.
AGR also plans to coordinate with other existing associations. This includes AgruGaming and the Online Betting Platforms Association, known as APAL.
Attorney Sandra Kemp has been named president of AGR. She will lead the group’s efforts going forward.
Calls for Clearer Rules
Kemp spoke with Diario Financiero about why the group was formed. She said the industry needs a clear and transparent set of rules that licensed operators can follow.
