Just a few years ago, sports betting made up a small part of the total. It is now becoming one of the larger contributors to the state’s gambling income.
Where the Money Goes
Most of the sports betting revenue went to a specific program. About $99.7 million was directed to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund.
That fund pays for public education initiatives across the state. It is one of the main uses for gambling tax revenue in Maryland.
Another $32.6 million from sports betting went to the state’s General Fund. That fund supports general government operations and services.
The lottery, casinos and fantasy sports operators also added
