Brazil’s gambling regulator in Paraíba has met with TikTok to talk about how digital platforms can support legal gaming oversight.
The State Lottery of Paraíba, known as LOTEP, held an institutional meeting with TikTok Brazil at its headquarters in João Pessoa. Officials from technology, communications, technical management, and enforcement departments attended, along with licensed operators.
TikTok Brazil’s representatives walked attendees through how the platform controls content, keeps users safe, and enforces its advertising policies.
The discussions focused on how regulators and tech companies can work together to ensure gaming content meets legal requirements.
Regulatory Framework on the Table
LOTEP officials used the meeting to explain Paraíba’s current regulatory setup. That included how operators are licensed, how auditing works, and what monitoring tools are in place.
TikTok shared details on how it enforces advertising standards on its platform. Both sides looked at ways digital technology could improve compliance and help users spot trustworthy operators.
LOTEP said meetings like this help tighten control over legal gambling activity and reduce the risk of illegal operators gaining visibility online.
“It is extremely important to maintain constant dialogue with digital platforms to improve communication practices and create an increasingly safe, transparent, and regulatory-compliant environment,” said Milena Mélo, Communications Advisor and member of LOTEP’s Responsible Gaming Commission.
